jham corp. was founded in 2002 by Jonathan Ham, an independent consultant in information security, as a vehicle to expand his ongoing sole practice via corp-to-corp and GSA contracts. It was also designed to facilitate his ability to partner with other consulting firms to attack projects at any scale.
The result is that through nearly 20 years in business, jham corp. has worked alongside dozens of the most amazingly knowledgeable and experienced consultants in the industry, learning, teaching, researching, writing, and solving lots of really hard problems along the way.

Jonathan is an independent consultant who specializes in large-scale enterprise security issues, from policy and procedure, through team selection and training, to implementing scalable prevention, detection, and response technologies and techniques. With a keen understanding of ROI and TCO (and an emphasis on real-world practice over products), he has helped his clients achieve greater success for over twenty years, advising in both the public and private sectors, from small startups to the Fortune 50, the U.S. Department of Defense across multiple engaged forces, and several other US federal agencies.
He’s been commissioned to teach investigative techniques to the NSA, trained NCIS investigators how to use Snort, performed packet analysis from a facility more than 2000 feet underground, and chartered and trained the CIRT for one of the largest U.S. civilian federal agencies.
Along the way, Jonathan has earned the CISSP, GSEC, GCIA, GMON, and GCIH certifications, become a Principal Instructor and Author with the SANS Institute, and a member of the GIAC Advisory Board. He has also consistently been the highest rated Trainer at BlackHat events.
A former combat medic with the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps, Jonathan has spent over a decade practicing a different kind of emergency response, volunteering and teaching for both the National Ski Patrol and the American Red Cross, as both a Senior Patroller and Instructor, and Professional Rescuer.
